I was recommended The Leadership Circle by my own coach, Bruce. Since I can attest Bruce is both thoughtful and wise (just checking you’re reading my articles Bruce) I figured it would probably be worth sharing.
The Leadership Circle offers a number of models, tests and insight into leadership, because, in their own words ‘ The world needs leaders of greater effectiveness and integrity, mastery and maturity, courage and compassion, competence and character, consciousness, and wisdom. We need those leaders now. Not only is complexity outpacing the development of effective and consciously competent leaders, but the world is right in the midst of a leadership crisis.’
I took the full test some time ago, but before writing this, I took the free Learning Circle Self Assessment (scroll to the bottom of the homepage) and as a starting point it was quite interesting, exploring your own perception of your leadership style and ability in about 120 questions – including how critical you are, if you’re autocratic, decisive, controlling or complying.
In the interest of sharing, it seems I’m pretty strong in creative (+ve for leadership), with not too much in Reactive holding me back. However, I score (myself) relatively low for collaborator and strategic focus – which is interesting. Courageous authenticity and Personal Learner could be higher – which I am surprised about. Again, one for me to explore. Perhaps I do pull my punches more than I thought? Anyway, this is a good example of how to identify specific areas to address – which is what I do with my own coach. Sharing a section of the results below so you can see the sort of thing you’ll get back.
Something worth a go if you have ten minutes.
Andy.
Every Wednesday I book out an hour to hold a FREE agency leaders surgery. If you have something on your mind, a challenge you’re wrestling with or just want an alternative point of view, I’d be very happy to lend an ear and maybe help you start to unpick the issues. You can help yourself to my calendar, here. Speaking to a diverse group of agency leaders helps me stay current and contextualise the issues I’m seeing with my clients. So please see this conversation as a genuine collaboration where we both hope to learn something new.
